Meggy's 3rd Birthday

This little girl turned three years old this weekend! Can you believe it?!

Saturday we had a Shirley Temple party for this three year old. She was so excited to walk downstairs on her birthday morning and look at all the decorations. "It's my birt-day Mama! I tree olders today!"

Seeing as how we had moved into our house 7 days before the party (And I hadn't even arrived until 10pm Saturday night) the extravagant, girly, red and white party I had planned, didn't quite get pulled off. However, thanks to the Michaels party department, and a few last minute runs to Target we managed a sweet little party for a sweet little girl. We had a Shirley Temple bar, complete with the traditional grenadine and Sprite, but also with some fun sparkling juices from World Market to mix things up a bit.

One thing I had really really wanted to do when I thought of doing this party (8 months ago!) was a candy table. It's not exactly picture perfect, but thanks to finding some thrift store glass, and Mom running to the store literally 10 minutes before the party started we managed to create a fun dessert table. Meggy loved it, and that's all that matters!

This is the one present I of which I managed to get a picture. Meggy was SO excited to get her dishes and pot and pans! After we opened these up, she got out her tea set (which is made by the same company) and made tea and soup for everyone. I think these dishes are a huge hit.

Aunty Beka drove all the way from Harrisonburg (past some forest fires, yikes!) to come to Meggy's party. Aunty Beka is the best, not only because she brought Meggy beautiful dresses and the entire cast of Zootopia in stuffed animal form, but because she loves to spend one on one time with Meggy, even if that means reading the same book three times in a row.

Sunday morning was our first day at our new church. Thomas got called into work halfway through the first hour, so I was a bit apprehensive by myself in sunday school. Meggy was a wonderful example however! She marched right into her new nursery class and announced "I wearin' my easter dress!" I was told after church that she played well, participated in singing time (mostly) and made a new friend by excessively twirling in her dress. So all in all, a wonderful birthday weekend for our wonderful 3 year old Meggy Mouse.
