Happy Easter!
Between sickness, allergies and getting ready to move, we haven't done many blog-worthy things lately. Thankfully, the sickness and allergies seem to be slowing down, and our closing is in 3 (three!!) days, so hopefully things will be picking up again.
That said, I did manage to take a few pictures on Easter Sunday. It was a full day - we went to Mom's church in the morning to hear the choir sing (and the pastor give an excellent sermon) and then we had our last Sunday in our ward. So it was a fun Sunday, but also a little bittersweet.
We started out the morning by Meggy opening her Easter Basket. In Thomas' family, the baskets are left by the Easter bunny while their family is at Church. Little Miss Meggy had been telling ANYONE who would listen in the week leading up, that the Easter Bunny was coming to her house, so I didn't want the poor thing to wait that long. Also, the Easter bunny brought Meggy her own little string of (fake) pearls to wear with her fancy, princess Easter dress, so it all worked out. I saved the egg hunt until after church.
A little note about Meggy's dress - As much as I love princesses, I'm not one for frilly dresses (as you can see from my Easter outfit), so when Meggy and I went to Costco to pick out her Easter dress the month before, I was rather set on a sweet, floral, streamlined dress. However, I also enjoy letting Meggy pick out her own clothes, because she usually has excellent taste that fits very will with her personality. When Meggy saw this dress, she would not even CONSIDER anything else. And I'm so very glad she insisted on this one. It fit her like a dream, and looked so beautiful. All day long people were telling Meggy she looked like Cinderella, and she couldn't have been more delighted.
Meggy had also picked out the gold sparkle shoes. I had wanted green or purple ones, but once again, Meggy was right. I should probably have her start picking out my clothes.
Rachel and Dad met us at First Presbyterian, where Meggy had fun waiving to her Beema up in the choir, and listening to the brass quartet. At one point she was able to see one of the instruments and told me "Mama, look! It's a trumpet!" "Yes I see," I replied "but that's actually a french horn." "No Mommy. Is a trumpet. See? See the guy is blowing dat thing?"
At the start of the service, Meggy had heard the church bells, and asked me where they were. After the service was over, she ran to her Beema and the first thing she asked was "Where are da bells Beema? I want to see dem!" So, Beema took us up to the bell room, and Meggy got to ring a few. I don't know if she realized they weren't the exact bells we heard ringing before, but it obviously didn't matter.
After finding all her eggs, Meggy headed back inside to see what was in them. I bought exactly one bag of (organic! made from fruit juice!) jelly beans, and one package of (also organic + made from fruit juice! I'm on a roll!) bunny gummy snacks. We'll be making those jelly beans last as loooooong as possible.

Afterwords we went to our ward - we have three wards meeting at our building right now, and therefore we are at the 1:30-4:30 slot. Not very fun for toddlers, but great in that we were able to spend the morning with Mom.
We had a lovely Easter service at church. Our choir director had put together a women's choir literally 10 days before Easter. She hand-picked who she wanted in the choir, and picked out a fairly easy song, and we were able to get it in one 30min rehearsal. Thomas said that it sounded lovely, and I was so glad to be able to do that on our last Sunday, as the choir (and director) consisted of all the friends I've made in this ward. I did one last stint of chorister in the Relief Society meeting, and then we said goodbye! Not for good of course - we'll only be living 30min away from most of these people, but we won't be seeing them every Sunday anymore.
Meggy fell asleep on the way home, which was perfect. That way the Easter Bunny (who was suspiciously dressed in khakis and a polo shirt) could hide his eggs, and when Meggy woke up, she was all set to hunt for eggs!
I was SO grateful that Thomas didn't have to work during the day, and it was such a treat to be able to spend the whole day with him!

My holiday philosophy this year is "as simple as possible". Going by that, we didn't have a fancy Easter feast, just creamed eggs on toast, with berries as Thomas requested. It was a lovely little Easter, during which I had many opportunities to ponder the awesome reality of our resurrected Savior, Jesus Christ. I'm so grateful for my family, and my Savior.
