Halloween Party!

Can it be? Another post in the month of October?!

Why yes it is, and for very good reason too!

Two weekends ago, we held a little Halloween party. Nothing big, just some family and close friends, but I think everyone had a blast. I really want this Halloween season to be fun for Meggy. It's her favourite holiday, and (hopefully!) the last one with just the three of us. So at the last minute, I decided to throw a party! We asked people to bring their favourite treats, and made some of our own, and had some crafts ready for the kids, although they much preferred to play in the playroom. You won't see me complaining! I think that's the most use we've gotten out of the playroom since we moved into this house.

We had already been to the Corner Store once this season, but they got more pumpkins in the day before our party. So of course we had to grab some more! They didn't have as many of the funky Fairy Tale ones in, but we got some lovely traditional sugar pumpkins to decorate inside the house.

The above picture is what Meggy did when I asked her to smile for my picture. The below picture she claims "Is for Daddy, because he's SOOOO silly!"

Yup, Thomas is the silly one.

This is what our treats table looked like before our friends showed up with BEAUTIFUL ghost and pumpkin cupcakes. We had quite the assortment, and still had to send people home with food when the party ended. Rebecca made the Mickey Mouse caramel/chocolate apples, and you can see Meggy and Thomas's finished Haunted House in the back there.

Since the majority of my family is anti-soda, and the majority of our friends are anti-caffeine, festive drinks can be hard to come up with. Luckily pinterest, Trader Joe's and World Market came to the rescue. I made a delicious cranberry-apple punch with apple and orange slices, and Thomas found a yummy selection of fall/halloween themed fruit sodas.

Also, please notice the bats and balloons. Those decorations were what Meggy specifically asked for, for her party. It took about three weeks to find bats that worked with our decor (I wasn't going to glue them to the walls, or use tacky stickers) but once we found them, Meggy LOVED having them on our walls. Thankfully the balloons took 10 minutes at the party store.

Meggy Mouse the ballerina fairy, and Grandma (Gail) as a pirate!

Basically Thomas and myself the entire time. We went with 'simple' costumes - Thomas was a pumpkin, and I was a cat.

One of Meggy's friends dressed up in the cutest Princess Aurora costume! (she's also going to Disney World soon, so it gets to do double duty!)

Margaret had a WONDERFUL time at her party. I think all her Halloween party dreams came true, and she was not happy about everyone going home, and having to stop playing. That's what's going on in this picture - she really wanted to keep playing, not taking a picture with her boring parents,

My sweet parents, who were a big help getting this party set up! (Notice Meggy 'bibbity bobbity boo-ing' in the corner)

Rebecca wowd all the little girls at the party by coming as Rapunzel. Seriously, two of the little girls just stopped and stared at Beka. Her fiance took her shift at work this evening so she could come for our party, wasn't that nice of him? Thanks Hayes, we were so happy Beka was ableto make it!

Aunty Rachel. Since she started college full time in September, we haven't seen much of her, so it was pretty special to have her there for the party.

Sisters! Plus one. ;)

The men. I don't have any idea what these looks are about, but it pretty much sums up their personalities. (don't tell them I said that!)

There ya go! We all had a lot of fun, and I loved seeing this little girl in her element, with all her favourite people around.

And while I'm excited to celebrate the rest of this Halloween season with Meggy Mouse, we're both hoping that we get to celebrate the next big holiday with Little Sister.
