Six Months for Wren!
I know I know... I haven't' updated for a while. And Wren is actually 7 months today. However, we're pretending that she's 6 months old, and hopefully I'll get to her 7 month update before she reaches 9 months.
This is the official 6 month picture (shot 5 days late. Oh my goodness this poor kid) and isn't she just the cutest thing?
Six month old Wren has learned how to roll from her back onto her belly (according to Thomas. I haven't actually seen it, but he claims she's done it a few times) and from her belly to her back. This one happens more often, because just like her big sister, Wren hates being on her belly. She can last for a couple of seconds if she's distracted, but she really, really doesn't like it.
Wren can also scoot around on her back, so much so that she got caught under the couch a few weeks ago! I was putting away some groceries while Meggy was (supposed to be) entertaining the baby. A few minutes later, I heard Wren start to cry and Meggy came into the kitchen saying "Mommy Mommy! Baby Wren has the chair on her head!" Poor thing. I've tried to be more careful about where I put her, but Wren still schooches herself into bad places, such as under the tv stand, and wrapped around her playmat.
Wren has gotten really good at napping, although her sleeping habits at night still leave quite a bit to be desired. Now that she's passed the 6 month mark, we've given her a few foods to try - apple sauce and bread seem to be her favourite. Also baby puffs, but big sister Meggy keeps stealing those whenever we get them out.
Wren is really starting to discover the world around her and nothing is safe from her grabbing hands! From cat fur ( Darcy has learned not to lie too close to her jumper) to boxes at the grocery store (It's taken me longer to learn not to stand too close to the shelves when she's in the sling) nothing is safe from those baby hands.
Contestants are starting to find their way into Wren's vocabulary. We're hearind a lot of ma-ma-ma-ma and da-da-da-da which Meggy is convinced is Wren calling us Mommy and Daddy. Shes also convinced that Wren will start calling her Meggy straight from the get-go, so we'll see how that goes.
Wren attended her Saba's graduation day, and decided to treat everyone in Old Cabell Hall to her beautiful singing voice. Wren loves to hear her own voice! If we go someplace that echos, she will just get louder and louder, to hear herself over everyone else. And if I have a conversaation with someone, she will get louder and start crying until they talk to her. All of a sudden she will smile and coo and be the happiest baby ever.
There's our girl at 6 months! Now to go and take her 7 month pictures...
