California! Week one, part two

We traveled back to Nana and Papa's Wednesday night, and had a fairly quiet Thursday. Meggy caught up on some much- needed sleep. She does not like sleeping when everything is going on around her, so even trying to put her down for a nap when she is in a new place is a trial. She was still doing very well however! She loved every new person who held her - on our way to Solvang, Linda took us to a honey shop. As we were sampling the different honeys, Linda was showing Meggy around the store. When I found the lotion I wanted to buy (pomegranate and honey, mmmm!) I looked up, and the Hispanic lady who was running the store had Meggy, and was showing her around the cashe register, and the view out the window! Margaret just charms everyone who looks her way, and Thomas and I are blessed to have such a bight, bubbly baby girl!

Anyway, back to Thursday. My uncle and aunt had mentioned that they would like to go out with
Thomas and myself, and Nana jumped at the chance to babysit! So Thursday evening, we all got dressed up, and headed out to The Melting Pot, and left Margaret with her doting great-grandparents. Nana and Papa and Meggy all had a very good time together. Margaret was sang to, played with, and it was discovered that this little girl likes football. She hadn't been eating very well for Nana (Meggy does not like the bottle), but when Nana brought her into the den to watch the football game with Papa, Meggy started watching, and eating very fast! Nana said she watched a whole quarter before she was put to bed. I think we have a footballlover on our hands.

Tomtom, Jenjen, Thomas and I all had a wonderful time! The fondu was sooooo yummy, and we walked around old town Pasadena after dinner. Thomas and Tomtom found an ancient hat store, and tried on a bunch of fedoras, while Jenjen and I watched. Thomas has an architect's eye, and he loves looking at older and/or unique buildings. Pasadena is the best place for old and unique buildings!

Friday was a quieter day. We went to lunch at the house of a friend of my grandparent's. Meggy was adored by all. She wasn't on her best behavior, but she was still pretty good, and let everyone hold her before she got fussy. Everyone commented on how intelligent she seems. I'm not one to compare, but I will say that Margaret is quite the observer, and she very seriously takes in her surroundings.

Satrday was our day to go to Long Beach!! We packed up, and headed down to celebrate (my) Great Grandma's birthday, a day early. Grandma was also there, and she was more than happy to play with Meggy.

We went out to lunch at Lucille's Smokehouse. It was DElish!! Grandma and Great grandma split an order of ribs, Thomas had a mushroom burger, and I had a portobello and pulled beef sandwich. Meggy kept Thomas and myself busy, because she refused to sit down for more than a few minutes at a time. When we got back to Great Grandma's house, we got a few more pictures.

Sunday we went back to Aunt Linda's and she showed Meggy off at church. It was the first time Margaret has actually SAT through most of church, and I attribute that to Aunt Linda's necklace that she allowed Meggy to play with. That, and the 14month old boy who kept flirting with her. Margaret was a smart girl - she watched the little boy, but when he started reaching out his hand to her, she totally ignored him.

Linda had gotten a lemon meringue pie from Marie Callender's, and it was totally the yummiest pie I have had all fall. Thomas and Uncle Craig had razzelberry, but Linda and I pigged out on that pie! (we only had two slices.... each.)

That was it for our first week! After we got back to Nana and Papa's Sunday night, I was Totally. Worn. Out. Thomas was awesome, and got Margaret ready for bed, while I just collapsed into bed. I love our family, but by golly, I can only have weeks like this one once a year!
