California! Week one, part one
Well folks, we've been in Cali over a week, and we are having a blast! Mind you, we have been running very which way, and have thoroughly exhausted ourselves, but still, it's been a blast.
At the end of the day, we went to a neighborhood near Linda's, and took a walk. Margaret enjoyed looking at the horses, and Thomas and I enjoyed daydreaming about what it would be like to own one of those beautiful houses.
Meggy was SUCH a good baby on the plane! Even when we were delayed on the plane for an hour, she was so good, and kept us entertained. She did not love taking off, but she looked like this for most of the plane ride:
Thomas and I both had sore arms when we landed, but we were so delighted by how well she behaved, that we didn't mind at all.
Sunday we skipped church, opting to unpack and let the baby sleep instead. Cousins came over for lunch, and everyone fought over who was going to hold the baby. Great fun was had by all.
Monday was a quiet day. Nana and Papa took us to Descanso Gardens, where we showed Meggy the gardens, and some deer, and then ate lunch.
Tuesday we headed over to Canyon Country to visit Linda, Thomas' aunt! We drove up to Solvang with her. Solvang is this little Dutch town, north of Santa Barbara. We didn't stay for too long, but we drove by the ocean, which was beautiful. We visited a few shops - a Christmas shop where we found MANY figurines from the nativity set we use. I picked out a sweet little maid for our new figurine this year. Thomas was mostly concerned about the bakeries, and we found some yummy little treats as we walked around. We also went into a jewelry and collecttables shop, where Thomas bought me the sweetest little ring! Here are some pictures from our day:
Our second day with Linda was a little more uneventful. We went to Target (aka, Sarah's favourite store) and Costo to stock up on diapers. It was raining pretty hard, and in the afternoon we made brownies, and watched movies.
