Easter Eggs

Easter was very low key at the Vance household this year. I had decided that we weren't going to do a big thing and honestly I had totally forgotten about doing Easter baskets at all until Thomas reminded me a week before. Thomas took it upon himself to make up baskets for the girls and myself, and he did a very good job. We had an entire set of (filled!) eggs left over from last year, and I set those out on the porch early, so that when the Easter Bunny came home from the night shift, he could hide them.

Wren was SO into gathering eggs. We let the girls outside and she went to town - She gave Thomas her basket to hold, and had him follow her around. Meggy took a little more time. The eggs were a cute 'garden' set, with caterpillars and butterfly and flower eggs. At least I thought it was cute. Meggy thought the bugs were gross, and would only touch the pink and purple (and sometimes yellow) eggs. That worked for Wren, and she ended up with a much bigger basket of eggs than her sister!

In our church (the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) the first April of the month is a special Sunday where instead of going to church, we get to hear from leaders of our church in a broadcast that we are able to watch at home. This made for a lovely, lazy Easter Sunday where we barely got out of our pjs, and were able to eat chocolate, listen to spiritually uplifting thoughts and talks, and then later in the day we went to Grandma and Papa's!

In typical Grandma and Papa fashion, they also had an egg hunt for the girls. Wren didn't do quite so well, not being on her home turf, but she still highly enjoyed looking for eggs, and holding her basket.

Aunty Victoria had played Easter bunny, and she had hidden some of the eggs in hard places for these little girls! Meggy was very proud of herself when she found the BIG one.

Except, it turned out that there was a bigger one. Wren found it. And she refused to part with it.

Meggy tried to sweet-talk her into trading, but Wren was no fool. She knew she had a good one.

I then attempted to get pictures of the two girls together with their baskets. I did not succeed.

Meggy is going through a phase where she must "strike a pose!" for every photo, while I yell from behind the camera "Smile! Look at me, at ME. AND KEEP SMILING! LOOK AT ME MEGGY!!!!"

Wren is going through a phase where she just wanders off. That's called being a toddler.

We were so glad to be able to spend this special weekend with the Vance's Sr. We will miss them when they move to Germany this summer!!!
